What Microsoft Intune reports on
Microsoft Intune offers several reports for various aspects of endpoint management, including the following.
- Device compliance reports show the status of compliance policies for your devices. These reports also show if device compliance on a specific device has changed.
- Device configuration reports show successfully configured devices and the number of devices that experienced errors.
- Firewall reporting indicates whether the firewall on a device is enabled, disabled or limited.

Accessing reports
You can access reports in Microsoft Intune by clicking on the ‘Reports’ tab and selecting the desired report from the list. It is pertinent to note that this tab does not include all reporting data available via Intune.
Different report types become available in other sections of Microsoft Intune, so you can find data more specific than what is in the ‘Reports’ tab. You can export all reports as CSV or PDF files.
Dashboards
The dashboard is the main reporting feature that visualises current and historical data sets. In Microsoft Intune, your dashboard provides an at-a-glance view of your devices and the status of your compliance settings.
The dashboard offers limited opportunities to customise the information. You can re-arrange the tiles available in the pre-configured dashboard but you do not have a lot of choices if you would like to add more tiles.

You can also customise the reports to show data sets from a specific date range.
For example, the dashboard provides you with an overview of device compliance. It also shows details on specific devices or groups of devices.
You might want to see which devices are not compliant with your security policies and investigate the causes. You can then take the necessary steps to re-align those devices with your company policies.

Operational reports in Microsoft Intune provide detailed information about the status and health of endpoints in your organisation. They help you quickly identify and troubleshoot issues with your endpoints. There are three types of operational reports: device, user, and scan.
Organisational
The Organisational reports in Microsoft Intune provide detailed information on how your organisation uses devices and features.
Microsoft Intune generates reports on various organisational topics, such as device adoption, feature usage, licensing, and security posture.
Historical
Microsoft Intune enables you to view historical reports of your endpoints. This can be very useful for troubleshooting or tracking down issues that have arisen in the past on your endpoints.
The historical reports show data for a specific period of time or information from all time periods.
Advanced
Advanced reporting in Microsoft Intune enables you to create custom reports from raw data. This type of reporting is largely for administrators because it allows you to configure alerts and customise dashboards however you prefer, among many other functionalities.
